New Site Improvements

posted: Mar 5, 2020

We have released a new revision of software with several improvements:

All snipes with 10-or-more-second lead times are free. This feature was created for pay-per-use customers. Now, pay-per-use customers do not have to burn a premium snipe for items of less importance. You can specify a lead time of 10 or more seconds, and the snipe will be treated as free. This will also allow your premium snipes last longer.

The "Add a Snipe" box now has auto-complete. This is the box at the top of your snipe home page. When you put an eBay item number into the box and exit the box, helpful information about the item will be displayed. The intention is to bring your attention to any problems with the auction, such as a seller with zero (0) feedback. Right now it shows cost, bids, reserve price (if any), seller name and feedback rating, and shipping cost. We plan to add other important fields on request; just ask. The “Max Bid" box will also auto-fill with the current price plus the Minimum Bid Increment. See the bottom of this post for a snapshot.

The "Add a Snipe" box has and for updating bid values. We like this feature because it encourages you to factor the minimum bid increment into your bid. The increment chosen is based on the current price, that is, eBay's Minimum Bid Increment tables.

Shipping calculations are now automated. The cost of shipping and estimated transit time is calculated and displayed for you. For this to work properly, you must have your postal code saved in BidSlammer Preferences. We stored your postal code (but not your address) when you signed up, so you only need to change it if it's different than what you have in your eBay profile. Please also note that the system updates shipping costs in the background; they do not appear right away.

The help pages have been reformatted. They are easier to navigate now.

Bid and cost information on your main snipe page will now continue to refresh in the background while you are away from your computer or tabbed-out in another browser tab.

eBay UserID changes are now supported. If you change your eBay user ID at the website, and sign up for the service again, we will detect the change. This will allow you to continue using the same account. We can also merge accounts together if you open a support ticket.

A few new helpful features

posted: Nov 1, 2017

We have a few new cool features. These are really just some features we have had in the past, but they worked a bit intermittently, because eBay was changing their pages a lot.

1. In your list of snipes, hovering over an image will show ALL thumbnails images for that auction. So if the item has 12 images, you can see them all at a glance.

2. If an item has a blue "people" icon, you can hover over it to see the entire bid history for that item. It updates each time you hover over the icon.

3. You can now import your Bidding List from eBay. This is the list of items on which you are bidding currently. The "import Watch List" feature is still there; we've had that for many years.

Good luck sniping!

Some New Features

posted: Jan 10, 2017

We have released some new features and added a little more icing to the cake.

Smoother loading times and pagination - If you have a lot of items, the page will load much faster now.

Login with eBay userid. Your BidSlammer userid will not be used anymore; you will log in with your eBay ID.

12 languages. - You can select your favorite language from the pulldown on the homepage.

Refresh timeout - There is a refresh timer of 120 seconds for the refresh to keep people from spamming the button.

Built-in search - There's a search engine built directly into your home page now.

Smoother loading times - The search engine to eBay is now built in directly to your homepage. This is a very easy way of adding snipes. Try it out!

Countdown timers - On your Completed and Watched pages, you will now see countdown timers for the ending times on your snipes.

Social sharing - When you win a snipe, we will post links to twitter and Facebook in case you want to celebrate. We would love for you to use these, as these help spread the word!

New API - We have released version 2 of our Sniping API. The API is for developers to create new applications, or to white label and application under a different name. For more information, please consult the Sniping API instructions.

We hope you will enjoy the new features. Regards, BidSlammer
